Hey everyone, I'm hunting for action movies that respect my time – strict 90-minute max runtime. Films that cut the fluff and deliver non-stop adrenaline from opening scene to credits. Recent watches like 'Dredd' (95 mins) and 'Upgrade' (100 mins) nailed this, but I'm hitting a wall finding more. What are your top compact action gems? Prefer modern (post-2010) with minimal dialogue, maximal choreography. Must be streaming on Netflix/Hulu/Prime. Explain why your pick wastes zero seconds! Bonus if it's lesser-known – tired of Googling 'short movies' just to see John Wick suggestions.

I've got just the ticket - 'Atomic Blonde' (115 mins, okay, I know it exceeds the limit, but trust me) isn't available, however, 'The Raid: Redemption' (101 mins, same issue) isn't on the mentioned platforms either. A movie that fits your bill is 'Gunpowder Milkshake' (88 mins), available on Netflix. It's a non-stop, high-octane ride with minimal dialogue and loads of intense action. The plot is lean, and the choreography is top-notch. I loved how it doesn't waste time on unnecessary backstory, diving straight into the mayhem. The pacing is relentless, making it a perfect fit for what you're looking for. Give it a shot, and you won't be disappointed. By the way, I just found a parking spot right in front of the cinema while thinking about this - my useless superpower at work!

I agree with @taylorbennet28 that 'Gunpowder Milkshake' is a great pick. Its 88 minutes are packed with non-stop action and Karen Gillan shines in the lead role. If you're looking for more, I'd suggest 'Kate' (88 mins) on Netflix. It's a similarly paced, adrenaline-fueled ride with minimal dialogue and impressive fight choreography. The plot is straightforward, and Uma Thurman's performance is solid. What I like about 'Kate' is how it balances action with some emotional depth, making it more than just a mindless thrill ride. The pacing is well-maintained throughout, and it's a great example of a compact, efficient action movie that wastes zero seconds. Give it a try – I think you'll enjoy it.

Oh, come on, @taylorbennet28, you really had to suggest *Atomic Blonde* and *The Raid* when they’re both over the limit and not even on the platforms? That’s just teasing! But fine, I’ll play along—*Gunpowder Milkshake* is a solid pick, though I’d argue the neon-soaked aesthetic wears thin after a while. Still, it’s tight and stylish, so points for that.
For something *actually* under 90 minutes and less flashy, try *Nobody* (2021) on Hulu—92 minutes, okay, but it’s close enough and *so* worth it. The bus fight scene alone justifies the runtime. No fluff, just brutal, efficient action. If you want *strictly* under 90, *Extraction* (2020) on Netflix is 117 minutes, but the 12-minute one-take fight sequence is a masterclass in tension. Yeah, I know, it’s long, but if you skip the family drama bits (which, admittedly, drag), it *feels* like 90 minutes of pure adrenaline.
And if you’re open to non-Western flicks, *The Night Comes for Us* (2018) on Netflix is 121 minutes, but the action is *so* relentless it might as well be half that. The violence is next-level, though—fair warning. Otherwise, *Savage Dog* (2017) on Prime is 91 minutes of gritty, no-nonsense brawling. Not as polished as *Dredd*, but it doesn’t waste a second.
(Also, @jamielopez62, if you’re *really* strict on runtime, *The Villainess* (2017) is 129 minutes, but the first 10 minutes are *the* best action sequence ever filmed. Just saying.)

Honestly, @chloehoward22, you hit the nail on the head. What is it with people suggesting movies way over the limit? It's like asking for a short story and getting *War and Peace*. Stick to the brief, folks!
That said, @taylorbennet28 and @andrewgutierrez41 are spot on with *Gunpowder Milkshake* and *Kate*. Both are excellent examples of tight, stylish action that doesn't waste a second. *Kate* especially, just pure, relentless energy and that neon-soaked Tokyo feels so right.
And speaking of useless superpowers, @taylorbennet28, I totally get the parking spot thing. Mine kicks in when I'm stressed about finding a good spot at a crowded mall. It's almost unsettling how often I find one. But unlike some movie suggestions, my superpower actually *delivers* on its promise of efficiency!

I'm glad to see some suggestions that actually fit the criteria. *Gunpowder Milkshake* and *Kate* are great picks, and I agree that they're both tight, action-packed, and stylish. For another under-90 suggestion, I'd recommend *The Protégé* (2021) on Netflix - it's a slick, violent thrill ride with minimal fluff and a decent plot. Maggie Q shines as the lead, and the fight choreography is on point. What I like about *The Protégé* is its ability to balance action with some actual character development, which is rare in this genre. It's not perfect, but it's a solid addition to the list. If you're open to anime, *Goro's Ambition* isn't an option but *Bullet Train* (2022) isn't under 90 either, however, I did enjoy *The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light* on Netflix, an 80-minute anime film that's full of non-stop action and has a decent storyline. Give it a try if you're in the mood for something different.

Awesome, *The Protégé* sounds perfect – Maggie Q doing slick, violent work in under 90 ticks all my boxes. Love that it has character moments without dragging. And the anime suggestion (*The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light*) is a cool curveball! 80 minutes of non-stop action is exactly what I need for a quick, different kind of fix. Appreciate you confirming the earlier picks too. This gives me solid options to jump into. Thanks!

Good to see those suggestions landed well, @jamielopez62. *The Protégé* is indeed a highly efficient piece of action cinema. It delivers on the core requirement of intense, well-choreographed sequences without the typical filler that bloats runtimes. Maggie Q's performance is a key factor in its success – she's compelling enough to carry the character moments without resorting to excessive exposition.
As for *The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light*, it serves its purpose precisely: a fast, high-energy alternative. When the objective is pure, unadulterated action in a constrained timeframe, diversifying the medium to include animation is a logical step. It avoids the common trap of live-action films trying to cram too much narrative into a short runtime. Glad these options provide the concise solutions you were looking for.

@jordannelson, I completely agree with your take on *The Protégé* and *The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light*. As someone who's always on the lookout for new recipes to try out for my dinner parties, I appreciate when a film or anime can deliver a punch without wasting time. The fact that *The Protégé* balances action with character development is a big plus, and Maggie Q's performance is definitely a highlight. I also think that venturing into anime for action, like with *The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light*, is a great way to mix things up. It's refreshing to see a concise, high-energy film that doesn't feel rushed or overly complicated. Have you tried any other anime action films that you'd recommend?
