Hey everyone!
So, I've been putting some serious hours into Breath of the Wild 2 (Tears of the Kingdom, whatever you wanna call it!), and I'm absolutely loving it. But my thumbs are SCREAMING. I swear, climbing every single cliff face in Hyrule is turning my hands into claws.
Anyone have any thoughts on climbing gear upgrades? I'm thinking maybe something that reduces the stamina drain, or even some kind of auto-climb feature for shorter distances? I know, I know, git gud, right? But
after a 10-mile hike in real life, the last thing I want is to struggle with a virtual mountain too, haha!
I'm curious if anyone has discovered any cool secrets or hidden items that help with climbing that I might have missed? Or maybe even some clever tricks or strategies? Let me know what you think! Maybe we can brainstorm some awesome climbing gear ideas for future updates (wishful thinking, I know!). Happy gaming!

I've been there too, my thumbs were throbbing after a marathon climbing session in Hyrule. I think a stamina-draining reduction upgrade is a great idea. Maybe some gloves or an amulet that give you a boost? I've found that using the paraglider to bypass some climbs helps, but it's not always an option. I've also started using the environment to my advantage - using rocks and ledges to take breaks or skip tricky parts. As for secrets, I did find a cool trick where you can use the recall ability on a thrown paraglider to quickly pull yourself up some steep cliffs. Not a game-changer, but it helps. Let's keep brainstorming, maybe we can come up with some more clever ideas!

Oh man, I feel your painâliterally! Climbing in TotK is brutal, especially after a long session. Iâve started using the Ascend ability way more to skip some of the vertical nonsense, but itâs not always an option. Whatâs really helped me is upgrading the Climbing Gear from the armor shop in Hateno or Kakariko. Itâs not a *huge* stamina boost, but every bit counts when youâre scaling Death Mountain for the fifth time.
As for gear ideas, Iâd kill for a "Grip Glove" that lets you cling to surfaces for a few seconds without draining staminaâlike a temporary stasis for your hands. Or maybe a "Climberâs Charm" that reduces stamina cost by 20% when equipped. And honestly, Nintendo should just add a "Lazy Mode" toggle for those of us whoâve already proven we can climb but donât want to do it *again*.
Also, pro tip: Cook meals with Endura Carrots and Staminoka Bass. Theyâre lifesavers. And if all else fails, take a break and go punch a Bokoblin for stress relief. It helps, trust me.

Ugh, I feel this so hard. My thumbs are still recovering from the last time I tried to climb everything in sightâlike, why does Hyrule have to be so *vertical*? I love the game, but my hands are not built for this.
I totally agree with the stamina reduction idea. Maybe something like the Climbing Gear but better, like a "Gale Gauntlet" that gives you a temporary stamina boost when you start climbing? Or even a "Climberâs Ring" that passively reduces stamina drain by 15%ânothing crazy, just enough to make it less painful.
Also, have you tried using the Ultrahand to build makeshift ladders or platforms? Itâs a bit janky, but sometimes itâs way easier than clawing up a cliff. And if youâre really desperate, just spam the Ascend ability like itâs going out of style. Not elegant, but it works.
Honestly, though, Nintendo should just let us toggle climbing difficulty. Like, "Casual Mode: Hold X to auto-climb short distances." Iâd take that in a heartbeat. Until then, Iâm stocking up on Staminoka Bass and pretending Iâm not getting arthritis.

Ohhh I feel you on the thumb agony! After my third hour scaling some insane cliff yesterday, I swear my hands were vibrating. Honestly? The Climbing Gear set upgraded to at least â
â
in Hateno made the *biggest* difference for me. That extra stamina buffer is clutch when youâre halfway up and panic sets in.
But hard agreeâwe need better options. A "Climberâs Charm" that stacks with the gear? YES. Or a zonai device glove that lets you magnetically stick to surfaces for 5-second breathers. My dream? "Auto-Traverse" for slopes under 45 degrees. Let me sip my coffee while Link scales a hill, Nintendo! Itâs not lazinessâitâs *self-care*.
Pro tip: Farm Endura Carrots around Satori Mountain while youâre shrine hunting. Cook 5 together for max bonus stamina. Saved me from so many embarrassing falls. And when all else fails? Switch to horseback and pretend verticality doesnât exist for a while. Your thumbs will thank you.

@emiliacooper, dude, YES! The vibrating hands are REAL. I thought I was going crazy! The Hateno upgrade is a lifesaver, I'm definitely gonna prioritize getting mine to at least â
â
now.
A Climber's Charm? Genius! And that Zonai glove idea is amazing; a quick magnetic breather would be perfect. Auto-Traverse... I'm picturing that now, just Link casually strolling up a hill. Haha!
Thanks for the Endura Carrot tip, I'm heading to Satori Mountain ASAP. Seriously, horseback riding away from cliffs is sometimes the only way to save my thumbs. So glad I'm not alone in this struggle!
