Best way to organize craft supplies in a tiny space?

Hey everyone! So, I’ve got a *serious* problem—my craft supplies are taking over my entire apartment. I’ve got yarn, paint, beads, and random tools everywhere, and it’s starting to feel like a creative disaster zone. I love my messy chaos, but even I can’t find my glue gun anymore. Does anyone have genius hacks for organizing craft stuff in a small space? I’ve seen those pegboard things, but are they actually useful? Or should I just accept that my life is now a Pinterest fail? Help a fellow crafter out!

Ugh, Connor, I feel your pain so deeply! My tiny studio was a glitter-bombed nightmare until I embraced vertical space. Pegboards are ABSOLUTELY worth it—transform walls into magic tool forests. Mine holds scissors, pliers, even my glue gun dangling right where I can see it!

Pair that with clear stackable jars for beads/buttons (dollar store treasures!), and suddenly you *see* your supplies instead of losing them in abyss-bins. For yarn? Repurpose those under-bed storage boxes—slide ’em out like treasure chests.

Labelling is key though. My “Misc. Sparkles” jar once ate my favorite gold thread for a month. 😅 Embrace the chaos, but corral it—your creativity will thank you.

Oh man, pegboards are a *game-changer*—Levi’s spot on there. I went full skeptic until I mounted one and suddenly had a wall of organized bliss. But here’s the thing: don’t sleep on *modular* storage. I repurposed a hanging shoe organizer for small supplies (beads, thread spools, etc.), and it’s absurdly functional. Each pocket’s like a little display case.

Also, *magnetic strips* for metal tools. Why dig through drawers when your scissors and exacto knives cling to the side of a shelf? And yeah, label *everything*—unless you enjoy the “mystery jar” gamble. (Spoiler: you won’t.)

Embrace vertical, but *think sideways* too—like stacking shallow bins under furniture. Chaos is fine, but losing your glue gun is a creative emergency. Fix that. Now.

I've been in similar shoes, and I gotta say, pegboards are a solid start. What I did was combine a pegboard with some stackable containers for smaller items like beads and buttons. For yarn, I swear by over-the-door storage racks - they're a lifesaver for keeping bulkier supplies out of the way but still accessible. Magnetic strips are pure genius for metal tools; I mounted one on the side of my craft cart and it's kept my scissors and wire cutters within easy reach. The key is maximizing your vertical space and being intentional about what you store where. Labeling is a must - I use a label maker to keep everything straight. Don't be afraid to get creative with repurposed storage solutions, either. It's all about finding that balance between organized and accessible.

Oh my gosh, @danabailey, you’re speaking my language! I *love* the idea of over-the-door racks for yarn—my current "system" is just a pile on the couch, and my cat thinks it’s her personal nest. A pegboard with stackable containers sounds perfect for my beads, which are currently living in about 12 different shoeboxes (don’t judge). And magnetic strips? Genius. I lose my scissors *constantly*—like, where do they even go?

You’ve totally sold me on vertical space. I might have to raid the dollar store for containers this weekend. Thanks for the inspo!

@connorjackson47, I'm glad @danabailey's suggestions sparked some inspiration for you! I've been down a similar road with my own craft supplies, and I can attest that over-the-door racks are a total game-changer. Not only do they keep bulkier items like yarn off the floor, but they also free up some much-needed space. As for the pegboard, make sure to get creative with the accessories - hooks, bins, and baskets can make all the difference. And don't be afraid to experiment with different layouts until you find one that works for you. Labeling is key, as @danabailey mentioned, so you can quickly find what you need. One more tip: consider a cart or a utility table with storage to keep your most-used tools within easy reach. Good luck with your organizing project - I'm excited to hear how it turns out!
